Does this look like it would work? This is my logrotate file commented like crazy so that if I get hit by a bus my co-worker knows what to do:

won't that run it on every .log in the directory? That's exactly what I don't want to do, this is kind of a shared system and I can't touch anything but se.log.

Got some help over on the cmusphinx freenode irc and resolved it. Here's the fix:
installed pulseaudio:
sudo apt-get install libpulse-dev
then reinstalled sphinxbase:
cd sphinxbase...
