afaik, the 'daily builds' are offered for the testing versions only.
i used ristretto when i was running xfce
its quite simple compared to gwenview so the functionality differs somewhat
%U means to open urls/files (would be replaced with the actual file name when used in file associations)

the command would be like

iirc, windows vista/7 iso's create a ntfs partition (and destroys the existing partition table) when used with dd
which results in more or less the same thing
i guess the method for windows installations disks would work here

btw, is there any special reason why you are trying to get the source?
just install compiz-fusion-plugins-extra as it is from the repos and 'Show mouse'...
if you open it from the menu/launcher it should open in 'browse' mode.. but it looks like it's trying to open a file..
try running it without all the extra options in the menu entry
