    Sorry I can't help you that, these days I use debian sid, or #! Wheezy. There quite a few #! crunchbang music guys if you care to visit, they a friendly and will be able to help you.

    Not sure what version of gnome you are intending to install Classic Gnome (Gnome 2) or Gnome 3? I'm using xubuntu, crunchbang, and archlinux these days.

    Yes vmware or virtualbox work just fine. How have you got the virtual machine setup? Number of cores, ram, etc...

    I don't really have a problem with unity, and there is still a long way to go until the next LTS. I guess I subscribe to the horses for courses idea, so I would use it for some thing and not others....
