Another way to mount PTP cameras is to use gphotofs. It is too cumbersome though.
+1 for better PTP support.
oh yea, to anyone who's having trouble getting the newly installed compiz to work, try this:
turn off Metacity's compositing manager.
open "gconf-editor"
navigate to apps, metacity, general...
ah crap, well it broke sound in GTA San Andreas under wine. So i had to revert the changes. One day i'll look into why it stopped working
You guys should try the beta 173.08 Nvidia drivers. They work well for my 9600GT
Running hardy 64-bit. These instructions are similar to what I did: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=796898
The equalizer part of your guide was awesome! Thanks :KS
Git is basically a super up-to-date version of the program. Has all the new features, but may be buggy.
This script is hit-or-miss. It worked for most people but not for some others. There are...
Depends on how fast your computer is. Shouldn't take half an hour though. If the CPU is being used by gcc or whatever the compiler is, then the script is still running. Or, it might just take forever...
This can now be done easily with Compiz on Hardy.
Create a new profile for gnome-terminal called noborders.
Uncheck Show menubar by default, change transparency to what you like, change Scrollbar...
If you had compiz from the Hardy repository at first, then you should see the new plugin "Cube Reflection and Deformation".
Make sure you restart/reload compiz with fusion-icon.
x11-xcb is only available in the Hardy repos.
Sorry if this sounds stupid, but did you install compiz-core? You didn't make it clear how you "reinstalled compiz through synaptic"
I've found out that sometimes, randomly, the Viewport Switcher plugin doesn't work. I can't middle click desktop, or use scroll wheel on desktop to change sides of the cube. It's not this script...
Martje, thanks for listening to my recommendations! A few more things:
When I'm updating compiz, I like to see what files get changed from the git pull. It just gives me an idea of what is being...
You should not use the GCONF backend. Go into ccsm, go to Preferences in the lower left-hand site, then for backend choose Flat-file. GCONF has alot of problems.
not entirely sure, but you may try this:
cd into ~/.compiz-git
cd into every folder and do a sudo make uninstall
This only works if the script didn't already delete all the source folders.

worked perfectly for me in Hardy
Hi Martje a few things:
First of all the script worked :P But a few questions below
Is the script downloading from master or noxcb-master?
Will it tell you if files are updated? Or will it...
The folders are found in
~/.compiz-git
gotcha. I'll definitely check it out later. How does your script handle plugins that are not included by default in your script? For example if I want to compile/install the Dodge plugin from git...
Thanks this thread worked for me. I did have to use sudo grub-install in the end though.
Hey Martje is there a changelog for your new script version?
For those people who are having trouble with the Italian script, have you tried running
./makefusion9 packages to install dependencies?
Also keep in mind that you have to edit the script before...
Just download the file from this page http://www.xs4all.nl/~mgj1/compiz_git.htm
Instead of installing it using dpkg, use
sudo gdebi compiz-git_0.1-2_all.deb This will take care of the...
Alright, I've installed using the Italian script, and it does NOT remove the icons from CCSM and it does NOT have an error when changing keybindings/mousebindings. The problems many people face seem...
