That's a good point, this directory exists if you have laptop mode tools installed. They are installed by default if you have a laptop, I don't know how you would do this if you were on a desktop.

After a successful make, I ran (as root):
cp nvidia_g210m_acpi /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/
depmod
modprobe nvidia_g210m_acpi
echo nvidia_g210m_acpi >>/etc/modules
From terminal:
marc@marc-laptop:~/Documents/usr/src/dkms_source_tree$ make
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/build M=/home/marc/Documents/usr/src/dkms_source_tree modules

The deb didn't work for me.
Here's the last few lines from it:
