Thanks isantop. I did forget to factor in the price point :-)
And yes, I am getting along really fine with Debian (squeeze) on my Lemu1. I had a record for the most continuous suspends over a 2-3...
Just my 0.02$. I'll be frank. This is nothing like the lemu1 or the lemu2 for that matter. What distinguished the Lemur from the rest (Pangolin, Bonobo, Gazelle etc.) was its sleek form factor. The...
Has anybody noticed that the lower right portion of the display in the Lemu1 is magnetic. Try bringing a paper clip to that location and you'll see it right away. Wonder what is in that location?...
Not to sound pessimistic, but I don't think System76 "manufacture" anything. They get the chasis from ODMs like Clevo, COMPAL etc., buy the desired HDD/RAM/Wireless PCI etc., plug it in and presto,...

At least listen to people who mean something to the rest of the world. This lunacy with Unity and GNOME shell is absurd and unproductive.
Aah, the fantasy of every geek who has used the Lemur... If only we had a larger screen size... Unfortunately however, I don't think our wish will ever be fulfilled. The current market demand for...
There is a good chance someone here is going to say re-seat your memory, try running from a liveCD and try to reproduce the erratic behavior and/or run memtest86. So I'd give that a shot now if I...

Thank you so very much for posting the instructions for the 2.30.2 panel. It works wonderfully on my Debain Squeeze 32 bit installation. Many thanks!!!
Not that I endorse your opinion, but on a related note, it is prudent to Log-off from gmail/facebook/twitter/yahoo etc. after you're done checking. That way, at least from your end, you know that...
I've thought about this long and hard. To tell the truth, most often the people who make such claims are the ones who are afraid that it will take off as a great product. I myself am guilty of such...
My very thoughts :) Plus, after moving to Debian, I don't think I can ever re-adjust to Ubuntu's relative "buggyness"/instability.
A sound suggestion indeed. But whatever happens, lets hope the GNOME 2 disease of removing existing features doesn't affect the XFCE dev camp. In many ways, XFCE is merely GNOME 2 after weight loss...
Unity is a PITA, period. Stick to Gnome 2.x or move to Xfce.
I know this is an old thread, but nevertheless, thanks for that tip dbbolton. I found it just as useful!
+1 That's a good point you make there.
Why? Why exactly does anyone need to be ashamed?? Sounds like you are desperate/afraid that people who read it might actually get a broader perspective of the situation.
The person who wrote that...

Thank you so much for that tip! I tried using e4rat on my Debian squeeze laptop and it works!!! Now, I have a fully functional desktop within 30 seconds on a 5400RPM WD drive.
Try fooling around with gconf-editor. Check this key:
/desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager
OR
/desktop/gnome/applications/windowmanager
And NO, it isn't anywhere near...
Indeed, when I think of it this way, I see Ubuntu as a "launchpad" into the GNU/Linux world. Hop on, familiarize yourself, then settle down with a distro that suits your liking. This also explains...
This is exactly what happens when "UI geniuses" favor "revolutionary" changes over "evolutionary" stability. This notion of misguided "growth" in every field is a disease.
And when the dust settles, most would have moved on to a saner distro anyways, so the Unity lovers can cuddle and revel in the joy of using an "intuitive" interface.
