  1. [ubuntu] Re: Search settings - extra drives not indexed

Not sure if I've posted what you've asked for....the partitions I'd like to add are sdc6 and sdd1.

Model: ATA SPCC Solid State (scsi)
    Disk /dev/sda: 512GB
    Sector size (logical/physical):...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Search settings - extra drives not indexed

OK I see. If that's the case, what does the 'search locations' setting - in which you can add bookmarks - do? I've bookmarked the new drives and added the bookmarks to the search locations, but...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Search settings - extra drives not indexed

Thanks, but that's not what I'm trying to do. I'd like those mounted SSD's - which are connected via a SATA rather than USB - to be part of the search results in the activities overview.
  4. [ubuntu] Search settings - extra drives not indexed

I've recently installed some extra storage in my desktop (HDD & SSD) but nautilus doesn't conduct searches there unless I specifically enter the directory. The activities overview doesn't search...
  5. Re: Nautilus keyboard shortcut/search from activities overview not working

Yes, it opens from the command line and there is no output in the terminal.

  7. Re: Nautilus keyboard shortcut/search from activities overview not working

    1) You press the Super key and search for something --> click on a result (e.g. a file or folder with that name) --> nothing happens.
    2) Yes, it's persistent after reboot and yes it's still defined.
  8. Nautilus keyboard shortcut/search from activities overview not working

Nautilus has started playing on my machine - it was all good but all of a sudden I've noticed two problems:

    1. Links to files/folders from the activities overview do not work (nothing happens);...

    Tomboy icon/applet

What's happened to the tomboy applet in Ubuntu 18/Gnome. It's nowhere to be found and installing the gnome extensions leads to an error.

[SOLVED] Re: Very large log directory?

That's what I was thinking of doing too. However, the command "echo 0 > /var/log/log_file_name" doesn't seem to work, with or without root privileges, returning, "bash: /var/log/syslog: Permission...

[SOLVED] Re: Very large log directory?

Thanks for your help. Will clearing syslog affect the system in some way, or is it useful literally as a log by which to asses what has gone wrong etc?
