So you just go to the menu, turn the brightness down and bit and then crank it back up?
I upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu but I'm still having issues.

I upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu but I'm still having issues.
When I try to follow that guys directions it says that there is nothing to do for install. Would I have have to install the version from apt-get first?
Also, were you having the same issue with...
After a little bit of further research. I've figured out that the screen brightness is fine if I restart the computer while it's plugged in. However, if I start the machine when it's running on...
smartdimmer -s 100
init.nvclock() failed!
All of my options in the settings and the power manager are fine. I don't know, maybe it's just me. It's at least enough of a difference where I'm...
I've tried both of those. I get an error on the smartdimmer and xbacklight doesn't make it any brighter. I don't know, maybe it's just me but it seems like the screen gets a lot brighter in Windows 7...
Hello, I have an HP Mini 5102 running Windows 7 Professional and Ubuntu Netbook Remix. I am having issues with my display brightness in Ubuntu. It appears to be capped. It is telling me that it's...
That did the trick! Thanks a lot. When I was trying to install it I was typing "sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt /dev/sdb5" instead of just sdb. Thanks!
I tried to follow that but no luck. I try to install it to sdb5 which is my Linux partition and it warns that that is a bad idea so I pass it the --force tag and it installs but when I reboot it just...
I tried running supergrub off of my thumb drive but it just says "No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!"
Any suggestions?

I have a T61 with 8.10 and my sound has just randomly stopped working. The sound was working before but now it has randomly stopped working. As far as I know nothing is muted.
Thanks for the help.
I don't know if this has already been asked/addressed but my T61 will not suspend or hibernate. Every time I try to suspend or hibernate the laptop it kernel panics. Does anyone know of a fix?
...
Yea, I actually noticed that my T61 crashes a lot more then I think it should while in Ubuntu.
Not very good I'm afraid. I have the Belkin 54g Wireless USB. I think it's F5D7050.
I do, I put my networks SSID instead of <myessid> and I get that error.
If I run the command "iwlist scan" The result under wlan1 is "No scan results."
If I set the Wireless Connection to...
Ok, I am going good on this until the very end. When I run the "wpa_passprhase <myessid> <passphrase>" command I get.
Is there something you have to do first for it to work?
I am trying...
I'm a beginner to Linux and I'm trying to get my Belkin 54g USB Adapter to work with the rt73 driver from their website.
I should note that my router has a WPA TKIP passphrase set and the SSID...
