  1. [all variants] Re: Read access to hfsplus for regular users ( I do NOT want/need write access)

Now that is just darn silly. I'd sooner start my media player as root or make an exFAT partition for my library to live in, but both of those (and your solution seem ridiculous.

    Can't I do it the...
  2. [all variants] Re: Read access to hfsplus for regular users ( I do NOT want/need write access)

I did as you said even though it was already set to Everyone : read access, and then clicked Apply to enclosed" as seen in this image.

It does not seem to change anything in linux, I can still...
  3. [all variants] Re: Read access to hfsplus for regular users ( I do NOT want/need write access)

Well, I don't really care. I assumed Linux doesn't necessarily know what my system files are on Mac OS, but yeah, ok, all I really need is for my user and maybe one more to have access to stuff...

[all variants] adding custom resolutions to Oneiric

    Hey guys,

None of the guides I'm running work in my situation.

Most of the guides still involve editing entries in a xorg.conf that, fo course aren't there, and the few that are up-to-date...

[lubuntu] Re: Are there thunderbolt drivers for Ubuntu

I'm typing from a Mac mini with my VGA screen hooked up though a converter to the Thunderbolt port.

Worked out of the box. Don't know about hooking up other devices.
  6. [all variants] Read access to hfsplus for regular users ( I do NOT want/need write access)

[kubuntu] Re: Muon Software Center crashes at launch

It's kind of a mystery. It seems to affect a lot of users, though can't be confirmed very well, so there must be something else influencing it. Hardware or network related issues.

    Ubuntu bug...

Does the Xbox represent windows, because it's microsoft's or is it Mac OS X because of the X, and what OS would the PS3 be?

    To everyone out there...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: Getting Windows on a Macbook through Ubuntu WITHOUT Mac OS.

Actually I had a quick look in the documentation, and you might even want "Installing on the EFI System Partition".

Though one way or another it looks like you will temporarily need OS X to set it...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Getting Windows on a Macbook through Ubuntu WITHOUT Mac OS.

I guess the main issue is the need for rEFIt to facilitate the doube-boot... I'm fuzzy on the details, but you want to look into creating a (small) hfs+ partition for rEFIt to live in, you want to...

[ubuntu] Re: Trouble booting the Ubuntu install CD

imachavel, this has little to do with the "motherboard" but rather the firmware and the efi.
Indeed the default way to boot a mac off a cd is to press the "C" key during bootup.
    Alternatively one...

Re: HowTo:How to Install Java in Ubuntu/Kubuntu

This does not work in Kubuntu as the last step requires gksudo, which of course is not present in Kubuntu (is also not in repositories by default. On top of all this, it installs gtk and some other...
