  1. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

I installed my drxvi314 module into the /lib/modules/.... tree so that all I had to do was a modprobe. But yes, an insmod does require the full path. Not sure why your LED feedback differs, but as...

    Re: VLAN Routing Issue

I had a box (wasn't Ubuntu though) where rp_filter was set to 1 by default. You can double check with a: sysctl -a | grep \.rp_filter
  3. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

Glad to see someone else trying this out!

How quickly did the 'search' command return? For me a 'search' takes about 5-10 seconds before it returns.

And you are using the drxvi314 driver & not...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: 4G on Sprint aircard -- is this possible?

pandacookie, yes it is possible. I just got it working (see my posts in another thread you started located at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2078478)
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Franklin U600 wireless modem (Sprint aircard)

I just got 3G and 4G to work on Ubuntu 12.10 but I'm under Virgin Mobile (uses Sprint's towers).

Since this the last post in this thread is less than a year old, I decided to link the thread with...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

I am successfully posting this message with my U600 on Virgin Mobile/Sprint with a 4G Wimax connection!!!

The last message I posted was the "key" (no pun intended....). BroadbandToGo.log at...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

Quick tidbit - the (Windows) Virgin Mobile connection manager app for the U600 also logs to c:\Users\[username]\BroadbandToGo.log.

    Re: VLAN Routing Issue

Another thing you may want to check since you have multiple network interfaces is rp_filter (a sysctl somewhere in the eth conf sections). Disable that (I think set it to the value 2 for all...

[all variants] Re: Truecrypt, sudoers and security.

More secure? The first. Only a single user can elevate to root to execute truecrypt. Second mechanism allows any number of users (as long as they belong to truecrypt).

    In practice, it probably...
  11. [lubuntu] Re: Default guest account allowing unlock gufw firewall

I've never used gufw, but if the elevation mechanism is the typical process used in Ubuntu, I believe that happens via dbus. Maybe the guest AppArmor profile does not lock down dbus (if that's even...
  12. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

I'm able to connect to a base station, not yet able to be authenticated though. Looks like wimaxd doesn't like the private keys (getting openssl errors). Error I'm getting is when auth is attempted,...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

Making progress...it turns out the Virgin Mobile software (provided by Franklin Wireless) actually uses the wimaxd daemon and wimaxc client internally for connection management. By accident I...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

Found out how to enable 4G/Wimax

    1. Plug in the Franklin Wireless U600 (3G/4G USB modem)
    2. usb_modeswitch 1fac:0150 to 1fac:0151 (module cdc_acm will drive this device)
    3. connect to the serial...
  15. [ubuntu] Re: WiMAX aircard...cannot get it to work in 12.10...SO FAR!!!

I'm trying to get this working too.

I have a Virgin Mobile Franklin U600 3G/4G USB modem that I'm trying to get working on Ubuntu 12.10.

I have been able to get 3G net connectivity fine with a...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: 12.10 update kernel to 3.5.0-25 causes problems

Had the same issue with the recent kernel upgrade from 3.5.0-17 to 3.5.0-25. It's an Ubuntu/installation bug.

To fix, here is what I did (while on a wired connection):

    sudo apt-get remove...
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

You need to download the source code to GnomeBaker.

The simple fix was just adding vorbisdec for an audio/ogg mime type, but I attached a basic patch file which you can apply by doing `patch -i...
  18. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

Hi, ricardisimo. I guess I forgot to specify - you change the setting through gconf-editor.

  19. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

Well, I really didn't wanna have to go through all that (hence the reason why I originally posted this thread since I'd been avoiding it so long). But I guess that's the nature of the "beast" (having...
  20. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

Another pet peeve I've had with GnomeBaker is that when you try to import a playlist, it resets the size of your audio CD to the first option (which is a 20 minute CD).

    I found that there's an...
  21. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

Since cat /etc/mime.types|grep ogg says that application/ogg files should have an "ogx" extension, you could also just do that...

    1) rename file to ogx
    2) symlink with an ogx extension to the ogg...
  22. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

Well, since I had the source, I decided to dive in. Found the problem, and it's due to mime-types & how GnomeBaker registers plugins.

Upon initialization in src/media.c, GnomeBaker registers the...
  23. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

So you can confirm that you also receive the same error when adding an ogg file?

Should have mentioned, I'm using GnomeBaker 0.6.4 and gstreamer 0.10 on Karmic. Straight from apt-get installs....
  24. [SOLVED] Re: Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

Brasero can add my ogg files to the project. But I always had a problem with Brasero crashing during the burn process.

PS: I also already had all those packages installed.
  25. [SOLVED] Unable to burn audio CD with ogg files using GnomeBaker

For the longest I have been unable to burn an audio CD that contains ogg files with GnomeBaker, and have always had to decode to wav manually. Well I'm tired of doing that, so want to get to the...
