So I figured it out. I am now the proud user of a shiny new Jaunty installation, w00t. :) Basically, I failed to realize when I imported all my Windows settings that I had filled up the /home...
That didn't work either :-( I am sad now.
So simple it just might work!
Here is the full log file created by the error message. It's rather confusing, so I'll post the full one, plus an abridged version with the important stuff in it.

I looked in /root and found a .pulse directory. When I moved it to my home directory, I was able to get a little bit further, and I actually heard the startup sound. It was a little jilted and wonky...
Hmm, I did ls -a on /home/robzilla, but all I saw was .pulse-cookie (which was a blank text file). Wierd. I think I'll try uninstalling pulse audio altogether.
Hmm, I think I'll try just changing the permissions before I delete it, but I'll try that! Thanks.
This was already posted at this link. Since the Jaunty testing forum is closed now, I'd like to resurrect this post. So basically, after I input my name and password at the login screen, the screen...
Awesome! I'm glad someone could use the information I posted!
I am attempting to create a directory structure using php includes for my website, www.theinvisibledolphin.com, but the includes are breaking some of the image links on pages that are one directory...
Here is the log for Xorg. The last lines seem the most pertinent, says "(WW) NV: Ignoring unsupported device 0x10de0531 (GeForce 7150M) at 00@00:12:0".
X.Org X Server 1.5.2
Release Date: 10...
Yes, both checked out OK.
I'm having some issues getting the 8.10 release candidate liveCD to boot up properly. Xorg gives me some funky errors. In fact, when I check the log file, it apparently hasn't configured anything, no...
After ages of trying to get DII to work in Wine, I finally tried PlayOnLinux and it ran beautifully! Only hangup is that when the game starts up, at 640x480 resolution, the bottom part of the screen...
Ah! I see now. Now that all makes perfect sense. I feel like I should cite you in my code :)
I wonder if it has anything to do with our using Visual C++ at school. I'll compile my program at school and see if both sync() and ignore() work. I have to wonder, because my program ran fine at...
Ah, I see! Interesting. Added that line to my bashrc. I think I was already getting those error messages, but I'm not entirely sure.
The instructor for our class taught us to use cin.sync() clear...
Oh wow. There's is so much interesting material in your last post, dwhitney. I'll need to pore over that for awhile... I especially find the unsigned ints interesting. Is it really necessary to make...
Woohoo! It runs beautifully now! I added the cin.ignore line, and that stopped it from looping infinitely, and using ifs instead of whiles allowed the correct error messages to show through. Also,...
Hmm, I changed the code as you suggested, to cin.fail() (i didn't include the std:: parts though, what is that?). I also used a counter-controlled loop to simplify the code a bit. I still get the...
Yea, I was searching for alternate methods of checking for bad input besides !cin and I found typeid. Seems it could be a useful tool.
I defined score as an integer.
I'm writing a program for an introductory course in C++, and the purpose of the program is to take three grades and then find the average and display the total class grade. I have a while loop that...
OK, I just changed an option in the conkyrc file:
own_window_type override
When I changed that to "normal" instead, it worked fine! woot. Thanks so much for your help, easybake.
Now my only...
This is what I get when I run conky in the terminal:
robert@robert-laptop:~$ conky
Conky: use_spacer should have an argument of left, right, or none. 'yes' seems to be some form of 'true',...
I'm trying to use conky to display a to do list on my desktop. Should be pretty simple, but I'm having trouble configuring the conkyrc config file correctly. I get nothing on the desktop, sometimes I...
