    Re: Chromebook and Chromebook 2

I am interested in them; especially the new one from Acer. It uses a Tegra K1 processor.
  2. Re: The Fountainhead - Howard Roark Speech (Ayn Rand)

I don't see why Rand should be discussed here. What does it have to do with 2014, technology, Ubuntu, computers, programming, or other *more interesting* topics?

Re: Linux Journal is an "extremist forum"

Do you have any hard data beyond anecdotes to prove that insurance companies might deny you medical coverage based on random searches of cancer treatments?

Re: Any UEFI Issues Dual-Booting Linux?

I have three Lenovo laptops, all bought since 2010, all with UEFI; none have any problems with openSUSE or Ubuntu 64 bit booting with UEFI.
In Lenovo machines, you can turn off UEFI, if desired.

    Re: Ubuntu vs Win 8.1

from OpenBSD perspective, Ubuntu is "bloatware." But I bet the issue is your ATI card - they have problems within Linux.

By the way, just exactly, what is "bloatware?"

    Re: Ubuntu vs Win 8.1

I have a "low-end" Lenovo B590, with a core i3, 8GB of memory - Ubuntu 14.04 really is marvelous on it. I think that your hardware is the issue, not Ubuntu, which is not "perfect" for every machine,...

    Wireless Bridge Advice

I need a new wireless bridge to replace the old WET54G from Linksys. While this unit was far from perfect, it did work, at least for a few years.
Are there good replacements out there?

    Thanks.

Re: Max Temp for a Laptop

I have a Lenovo B590 with an i3; fan is almost never heard with Ubuntu, and this is a very cheap laptop. I doubt that the OS is causing any issues, it must be the hardware design.

    Re: Good Platform for Virtualization?
