Resetting the bios worked! Thanks for the help
Now rfkill list gives:
robert@robert-Lenovo-V570:~$ rfkill list
0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
2: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
And it now reports that the wireless is soft blocked and hard blocked:
robert@robert-Lenovo-V570:~$ rfkill list
0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
2: phy0:...
I blacklisted the module. Now when I click on the network icon, it also says "wireless is disabled by hardware switch." Flipping the actual hardware switch back and forth has no effect on this.

I just received a Pangolin Performance laptop. I'm running mozilla's build of Firefox 4 beta 2. Flash does not work although it works in the Firefox 3.6 that came preinstalled. How can I fix this?
I got it to work! I'm not sure exactly what did it. I reinstalled the drivers a few times. I got it to work with the linuxant drivers after activating mic f(maybe I overlooked this before but I was...

My friend has a new HP G60-630GS. I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it and everything seems to work except the built in microphone, and I'm trying to set up skype. Any ideas?
Thanks that worked perfectly.
