    Secondly: i was merely pointing out an application which has a Winzip look-and-feel.

    Some people feel more comfortable with a GUI tool ;)

    With poor support i mean it doesn't work out-of-the-box directly. It needs drivers to be installed first and even then it's praying that the Canon device work properly as it should be....

    HP printers will work out-of-the-box. Good support under Linux.
    Epson will work also out-of-the-box.
    Canon devices suffer from poor support under Linux.

    I never had any problems with my HP...

    Adobe Flash is no longer supported by Adobe. New released will not be made available for Linux. Adobe will only maintain Security updates for Linux.

    Best is to install the flashplugin-installer...

    I found alacarte as not working on Lubuntu. Menulibre does work, love that GUI by the way.

    I think you should use LXMed, this is a menu editor especially for LXDE.

    I have 2 settings for mplayer to test for you. These 2 options you can type in a terminal.

    setting 1:

    mplayer -vo x11
    setting 2:

    mplayer -vo xover

    Try them both and check with setting...
