I looked in /var/log/messages, and it says the link was established. Afterwards, every 6 seconds or so, there is a line reading:
ndiswrapper (mp_reset:64): wlan0 is being reset
OK, I have a wireless card: WPC11 v4.0, based on a Realtek chipset. I previously used the card in another laptop, and it worked fine (under 8.04). I put it into an n610c laptop, and it no longer...
Edit: the problem was a short in the ide cable. It would only work when twisted 'right', and problem was fixed with new cable.
So, I have this DVD-RAM/RW/CD-RW/etc drive. I know that it works,...
I just installed a newer driver from http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download/stable/, but the problem is that it is still using the old driver. How would I fix this? Both drivers are named...
EDIT: Installed the backport modules
I've got an external usb-dongle that uses rtl8187. When plugged in it works, but it disconnects randomly and the signal strength is way lower than it should...
I noticed that the program outputs these errors:
Is there any way to try and find what file it is trying to access (i.e. what Thunderbird data is)? Or to see if it's trying to access mysql or...
Bumping an old thread.
I have the same exact problem. Are there any fixes?
Sound in linux.. is my Achilles heal.
Anyway, I plugged in my microphone, and if I blow or talk into it, I hear the sound coming out of the speakers--however, both trying to record a video on...
Yep, it was a problem with apt-get, thanks.
user@user-desktop:/var/log$ sudo find /etc/ -type f -name "*ssh*"
The ssh package is, I think, the same as openssh-client, which I already have installed. The problem is that openssh-server appears to not be installed. (and installing ssh anyway doesn't work)
OK, I am stumped. I just installed ubuntu on this computer that I want to make into a media server, but I can't get ssh to work.
user@user-desktop:/var/log$ ssh user@localhost
That was the first thing I did..
I still haven't gotten shared folders to work ;_;

desktop:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/vboxvfs
Ok, so I wanted to sync my Zune player, but it only works with windows. Luckily, I had a copy of windows xp, so I installed it in virtualbox (not OSE). Everything works great--except shared...
I know very well it's a beta release, I've been using hardy/firefox 3 betas since late early april. It just seems almost like it's crashing more as of late.
Every few minutes (especially using flash), firefox keeps crashing due to segfault. Here is the terminal output:
(firefox:14915): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion...
2. It works the same way in ubuntu as in windows. Go to a site that needs flash (e.g. addicting games) and click on the banner that appears on the top of firefox. It will list several options,...
Not necessarily, I've gotten a little faster than that using comcast (not many other people around me use it, so I can sue most of the line). It's entirely possible he did it from his house.
It sounds like maybe your installation was corrupted.. Faulty CD maybe?
Anyway, if all else fails, try booting from a (new) ubuntu cd, mount the HD, and then make the home directory (and set...
ps ux > ~/proclog.txt
Then post the contents of the 'proclog.txt' file in your home directory.
Also, what kind of hardware do you have?
