    I know it can be done, I just forgot how.

    I don't want to change the extension, that's easy.

    Let's say I have a bunch of files like so:

    It could've started with an upgrade. I upgrade reguarly as it's just a home server. I'll have a look at the bios and see if changing the power settings change anything...

    If you're using port 22 to ssh in you'll need to forward that port on your router

    Then ssh in via your public_ip:22 - the router will forward that to your server

    make sure iptables or any other...

    For a production server I'd use 8.04 LTS.

    As with what everyone has already said above, you don't upgrade production servers every 6 months. We have RHEL 3 servers still in use even though RHEL 5...
