Re: The new font looks amazing.

No, don't like it either. It's a nice font for logos but way to playfull for a system font. Lucidia Grande is still the best... :)

Poll: Re: Maverick Meerkat should ship with Docky

The power consumption of Ubuntu is bad enough. Installing software that is constantly eating CPU cycles while being idle and not visible is a stupid idea.

Re: gnome system tray confusing and cumbersome

You also have to setup gnome-volume-control-applet to start automatically.
  7. Re: Once again, here's my list of the most annoying bugs left unfixed in Karmic and L

I have the same problem with the lid. Does anyone know which parts currently play a role in this? acpid, hal, gnome-power-manager?

Poll: Re: Time to move to i686?

It still would be nice to have optimized packages for software that would noticeably benefit like libjpeg where the optimized version is two times faster.

    Re: GNOME Shell

You can't. But according to the Gnome Shell developers this isn't a problem because every computer shiped in the last five years has working 3D drivers that never fail.
  11. Re: What improvements would you like to see in Lucid?

    +1

Though, thanks to Gnome Shell investing time in Compiz got pretty pointless.
  12. Re: What improvements would you like to see in Lucid?

Fixing bugs while not breaking things that already worked would be a start...
  13. Re: Blatant security flaw much?

Trying to prove that Windows shows your passwords in cleartext by showing a screenshot of a third party application is somewhat stupid?

    Re: NetworkManager looks ugly!

    IMHO:

    - The word 'disconnected' under 'Wired Network' should either be uppercase or called 'Not connected'.

    - The word 'disconnect' under the active wlan connection shouldn't be an extra line....
  15. Re: Login at login screen produces return to said screen.

You can try the Gnome Failsafe session at the login screen for the time being...

Re: Anyone tried Back in Time?

Ext4 doesn't support snapshots therefore it would be hard to get the same quality as in OpenSolaris. Though, it's a cool feature.
