I brought a touchscreen ( 8" widescreen ) for another project which is going to take a while to get to the state where I need the screen. So I thought I would make it useful and use it on my main...
I think I've found the problem but I have found a workaround.
Logged a bug on launchpad against clock-setup: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clock-setup/+bug/407137
So I believe I may have found a bug in the minimal install, just wondering if others had come across it and might be able to direct me to the "proper" way of doing it or a fix I can do during...
I second the recommendation of using Ubuntu 8.10 on LiveCD to move the files as my experience with 9.04 has not been very good in regards to burning CDs ( Brasero failing 90% of the time, for example...
What would it take to make this script create .deb files instead of installing it so package managers would know what was going on?
I suggest try using sshfs if you are okay with dropping to the command line. If it works, that'll indicate that you are experiencing a gvfs/nautilus issue, not sftp/scp/ssh.
I'm not taking it personally and I appreciate you sharing your opinion. I guess I'm just struggling to understand how you come to point fingers at something that has worked for months instead of the...
I don't see why the conclusion that the remote system is at fault was so rapid to come to. I didn't have *any issues for months* when both machines were running Intrepid, it has only arisen when...
I mounted the other machine using the SSH option of 'Connect to Server' in Nautilus. Just the standard cut and paste of a directory.
I have ( freshly installed and updated ) Jaunty running locally...
Okay, Jaunty has really dropped the ball here.
I accessed another PC using 'Connect to Server..' and SSH, and started moving a folder over to the local machine.
The file transfer died...
I've come across a requirement which involves being able to come up with a list of start and end times where all of the entries ( which have times when they are available ) overlap i.e. they are all...
That's the thing.. it *is* in the normal hierarchy ( under ~/.gvfs, except Trash ) but protocol paths are used ( passed as arguments to other programs etc. ) instead of the corresponding standard...
Because <insert name of preferred image viewer> doesn't support XCF?
Besides, I get the same thing when I try to launch video files from a Samba/SFTP "mount" ( VLC doesn't understand...
Okay, this has actually irked me for quite a while and I was just wondering if anyone had any idea why they were implemented, possibly how to turn them off completely or to "fix" them.
Basically,...
Yeah. I have found that out recently. I had a ~160GB drive with a truecrypt volume on it and I took it out of my machine as I brought 2 * 500GB HDD. Now I don't remember the password ( in fact, I'm...
I had a look at the EncFS homepage ( I'd not looked at EncFS previously ) and how you described your setup makes perfect sense.
In your experience, is it tolerant in regards to connection failures...
Is is possible to have an encrypted filesystem on a remote machine which is mounted/decrypted on the local machine ( through ssh for example ), without it being mounted in any way on the remote one?
No, they are completely separate.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in regards to TV tuners which have the right inputs for connecting consoles?
Basically, I intend on building a display wall ( to use for various things...
Just came across this while looking for something else. Might be of interest. I'll have to try it out at some point.

I've had this happen on two Intrepid machines that were running the latest Alsa from this script ( my laptop and my fathers laptop ) where suddenly the sound no longer worked. On my laptop, I had to...
Perhaps you will remember SCMPOO ( Stray Sheep )
I have seen one for Linux where the default is a penguin but you can download other "skins" but the name escapes me now. Also, Bonzi Buddy was pretty...
Bump
Isn't there a downside to this? If not, what is the point of 'Native SATA' mode? Even so, isn't this a bit of an "upstream" workaround to a downstream problem, much like the drive re-ordering? :)
