Re: ISO will increase to 750MB

The Web of Trust addon for Chrome was screaming at me to get out of there the second I clicked that link:

  2. Re: What changes would you like in Kubuntu?

Full speed KWin using NVidia drivers. Even with the very recent high end laptop I won in a competition, KWin still knocks itself down to 30fps on occassion regardless of what the maxFPS setting is at.

    Re: multiarch and ia32-libs issues

Since toward the end of Oneiric development, this problem has been apparent. And yes, I have the same dependency problems as well from a fresh install. The joys of using a development version of...

    Re: Plymouth discovering network message

I found this to be a problem leftover from a bug(?) introduced during the last weeks of Oneiric. A full reinstall of Kubuntu and the problem did not resurface.
  5. Re: NVidia (proprietary) delay when switching back to VT7 on PP

About one and a half seconds to switch to VT1 and then five seconds to switch back to VT7 here. Using Kubuntu with 280.13 drivers and a GT 555M graphics card, and VSync for both the video settings...

    Re: Bring in the PP!

    I'm in:

    $ lsb_release -a
    No LSB modules are available.
    Distributor ID: Ubuntu
    Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)
    Release: 12.04
    Codename: precise
  8. Re: How do I change the thunderbird 7.0 toobar icons to "colored" again?

They're also default in Kubuntu and from what I have seen, adapt to light/dark themes.
  9. Re: No Networking after most recent batch of updates

I get the same thing as well, has been the case for about a couple of weeks now. Fixed if an ethernet cable is attached to the computer, but very impractical for a laptop!
  10. Multiarch and 32-bit binary only programs

I noted a problem reinstalling Oneiric, with the changes due to multiarch support, programs which are released as a binary only file (thinks Kega Fusion) as opposed to a debian package are going to...
  11. Re: NVidia screen-tearing making Oneiric unusuable in some parts

I don't think the problem is with the NVidia driver myself, using full screen VLC and Kega Fusion (desktop compositioning disabled) has no problem running at 60fps tear free, but I have found tearing...
  12. [SOLVED] Re: Kubuntu users - libqt4-dbus 4:4.7.3-4ubuntu5 will break your system

libqt4-dbus 4:4.7.3-4ubuntu6 has now hit the repositories with a new package, 'qdbus', installed alongside when using aptitude safe-upgrade. The qt4-dev-tools workaround is no longer needed. This bug...
  13. [SOLVED] Re: Kubuntu users - libqt4-dbus 4:4.7.3-4ubuntu5 will break your system

On my system, the message comes up when X starts, KDM appears, but login fails and you're kicked back to the KDM login screen. Your only option from there is to go back to a virtual terminal to...
  14. [SOLVED] Kubuntu users - libqt4-dbus 4:4.7.3-4ubuntu5 will break your system

Just upgraded via aptitude safe-upgrade and libqt4-dbus 4:4.7.3-4ubuntu5 will cause D-Bus to fail and you'll be stuck at a command line. May be worth holding updates if you value not being stuck at a...

Re: synaptic deleted DO NOT UPDATE

Aptitude also broke last night, which means that aptitude safe-upgrade will not work. Having to use apt-get upgrade instead.
  16. Re: NVidia screen-tearing making Oneiric unusuable in some parts

Not an option for me sadly as I have a GT 555M.
  17. NVidia screen-tearing making Oneiric unusuable in some parts

And according to this bug report it's both Nouveau and NVidia's proprietary drivers which suffer the same problem, and whether you use Compiz or KWin, same problem there too.

    One thing that I have...
  18. Re: Will upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 make stuff buggy?

Even that may not be enough. I have known of a bug which happened to me during testing a couple or so years ago which wiped unrelated data on a different partition. Bugs can relate from mild...
  19. Re: Can Ubuntu be installed on a PS1 or PS2?

Different console, but the Sega Dreamcast can run Linux, but it's CPU is a Hitachi SH4 (so you couldn't just whack a live CD in there obviously) so the whole thing had to be rewritten and stripped...

Re: Kubuntu and held back packages

I wouldn't recommend it. Base KDE packages have been renamed and it's causing havoc at the moment with packages which haven't had their dependencies updated yet.

    Using aptitude safe-upgrade is...

Re: Kubuntu and held back packages

I have to second this - normally, Kubuntu updates to the forthcoming release around beta time. This time, we've past that stage with 4.7 and we are still using 4.6. Not sure why, I haven't see any...

Re: Kubuntu and held back packages

I test Kubuntu and I tend to use sudo aptitude safe-upgrade as a safer compromise. Now there will be a time now and again where a few packages won't upgrade and you have to use sudo aptitude...
  23. [kubuntu] How can I downgrade 5.1 AAC to Stereo in VLC (using DVB-T2 live TV)

I got a PCTV nanoStick T2 USB stick which is the first USB stick to include DVB-T2 and has had support in Linux recently added thanks to the hard work of volunteers in the Linux TV project.

  25. Re: Call me when Oneiric is not a rolling mess.

Oneiric has been pretty stable for me up until now, and still is as I type. The biggest problem I have had is the udev folder bug but it doesn't impact on anything from what I see.

    Should mention...
