  1. [ubuntu] Re: Touchpad/Trackpoint not working on Toshiba Portege z10t-a

    Hi there

I've only been testing it from a live USB - I'm a little nervous about actually installing this, I've not installed Ubuntu on a Win8 / UEFI device before. Off-topic, but did you have any...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Touchpad/Trackpoint not working on Toshiba Portege z10t-a

I managed to get basic functionality by enabling the HID_MULTI_INPUT quirk for the device:

sudo rmmod usbhid && sudo modprobe -v usbhid quirks="0x0930:0x0807:0x0040"

If you do this the touchpad...

[ubuntu] Re: Natty Narwhal on Lenovo ThinkPad X220T

I'm running 12.10 at the moment. The main thing I notice is increased power consumption - no matter how I fiddle with powertop, I can't get the computer to idle at less than about 13W. Under precise...

Re: Evince patched with subpixel rendering - PPA

Thanks! I've been wishing something like this existed for ages. Evince's grayscale smoothing has been driving me batty (and giving me a headache).

[ubuntu] Re: Natty Narwhal on Lenovo ThinkPad X220T

Sorry, didn't catch this reply - I'd forgotten to subscribe to the thread! It's part of the Gnome settings - you'll have it, just search for Wacom in Unity. As far as I can tell, the tablet is not...

[ubuntu] Re: Natty Narwhal on Lenovo ThinkPad X220T

Anyone here running Precise and managed to use the Calibration tool in the Wacom Graphics Tablet section of the System Settings? It looks tantalisingly useful, but doesn't do anything on my x220t

[ubuntu] Re: Natty Narwhal on Lenovo ThinkPad X220T

Yes - had the same problem with my HP2710p. Easy fix:

xrandr --output LVDS1 --set "scaling mode" "Full Aspect"

I'm not sure what the screen name is on the X220t (I'm getting mine in a week),...

Re: Matlab figure fonts in 11.04

    Hooray, that's it!

That was the elusive information we needed: I looked at my 11.04 that worked (I was the OP on the other thread) and compared font paths. What you need to install is:

    Re: Gnome 3 vs Unity

Well, I had been hearing all the rave reviews about Gnome3 and all the trashings that Unity had been getting, so I installed Fedora 15 beta on a partition to compare it.

    It feels slick, mostly. I...
