Thanks mcduck, and interesting article nerdtron.
I did mean Ubuntu Archive Manager. I didn't know it had a name. I not real concerned about the GUI as I generally use the right-click menu. What is the difference between compressing/uncompressing a...
What is the difference between 7-Zip and the default compression tool that comes with Ubuntu?
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 on a Sony Vaio laptop. It has integrated Nvidia graphics on an Intel CPU. I haven't had any serious problems with 14.04 until now.
My Ubuntu installation has been working...
Nevermind. I found Nautilus Actions Configuration Tool.
I've seen various programs that add an option to the OS's right click menu. I was wondering how to do this. I'm not looking for specifics, I just want to know what programming language I would need...
Wonderful. Thank you.
It lists each of those four and says it is already the latest version.
I tried to use Rhythmbox to rip a CD to MP3 files, but it says I need the correct encoding files (or whatever it's called). I had already installed the MP3 encoding library (lame I believe) earlier...
Has anyone tried using iTunes on PlayOnLinux? I will when I get the chance...
EDIT: Nevermind. WINE doesn't work with USB.
Doesn't work for me. Ubuntu asks me to unlock the device in order to copy files.
Can't believe I missed this before. When I tried to do that, the iPhone was already using ETH1. Switching had no effect. I am using ethernet right now, so I don't know if that has anything to do with...
Better than nothing, but I'd prefer not to jailbreak unless it's the last option, as would most people that haven't already done that, I assume.
The irony!!! installing Windows to support Apple. Oh cruel world!
Seriously though, any updates?
How is this supposed to work? I assume that once you install the libi... that either the...
Go to coolrom.com. Basically rips it for you. Has many ROMs of most older consoles including GameCube. Most people use it to get ROMs of games they don't own (which is illegal), but if you own the...
I love the idea. I'll do that as soon as I open Steam.
Oh definitely. I can't stand Firefox. Everytime I close out of it on my school's computers, it brings up a screen with the option to report a crash, and reopen the closed pages. Every time. It's so...
That's what I'm saying. Even though I could make many names with different capitalisation, I have to use all lowercase to login, even though it is partly capitalised.
Thanks but I knew that already. I'm not that new to Ubuntu. lol
That's what it was. My login is "Brexton", but in CLI I use "brexton". That's weird. Oh well. Thanks again.
Great!!! That's better than what I hoped. The only problem now is that I can't log in. I have tried numerous times with the same login/password I use when I start up Ubuntu. Is there some trick to...
I'm a little confused. I tried Alt+SysReq, and it just restarted the computer without warning. My programs didn't save or stay open, so it's just as good as a hard shutdown.
If I can't open the...
Thank you for the sys restart method. I will definitely try that. When I said that the Ubuntu system manager isn't as powerful, I meant as powerful as Ctrl+Alt+Del is, not just the manager.
Please...
You're thinking of the system manager. While there is a system manager in Ubuntu, it's not nearly as powerful as in Windows. If your computer freezes, it's frozen.
System Monitor manages tasks in...
