  1. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

You can't. To use this, you have to be running Compiz, not Fluxbox.

    From the Fluxbox FAQ:

Fluxbox is a windowmanager, compiz and beryl are window managers (combined with a composite manager)....
  2. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

Hmmm.... python-gnome2-extras may no longer be a dependency. I just noticed that it's no longer on my system. A little research suggests it was removed when I updated to 10.4.

  3. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

Still works for me using Ubuntu 10.04.
  4. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

Tried Lucid Remix alpha 3 tonight (in Virtualbox) and couldn't get 3D effects to work properly. Hopefully, it's a fixable bug and it'll iron itself out down the line.

Not really a fan of the...
  5. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

I haven't tried Lucid Remix yet, but I'll give it a shot in the next couple weeks, I imagine. Stay tuned.
  6. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

New version posted with Karmic Netbook Remix fix.
  7. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

Nasty bug. At first, I thought that "Home" and "Top Expanded Edge Panel" were simply ignoring the activation attempts, but instead they were being activated and were basically short-circuiting the...
  8. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

Excellent detective work! I downloaded Netbook Remix last night and confirmed what you found. I'm sure it took some digging through the script to figure that out, and I appreciate the effort. It...
  9. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

Hmmm... This may be an example of the bug I noted in the first post. Especially on slow computers, it can crop up. What netbook are you using? Have you tried to adjust the timer mentioned in the...
  10. [all variants] Re: A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

I've posted a new version to provide the hot corner functionality requested in post #12. See the updated first post for instructions. (ashcroft3000, I think you'd be looking at using option 1.)

[ubuntu] Re: Gnome startup slow (Ubuntu 9.04RC)

Seeing a similar issue as well. My hard drive light is blinking furiously during the blackout time, so it's not just pausing. Aside from that, I haven't a clue.
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Close, maximize, & minimize buttons on the panel

Attached are the images that can go with the scripts.
  13. [ubuntu] Close, maximize, & minimize buttons on the panel

Attached are three scripts that, when added to a panel with launchers, can be used in place of the close, maximize, and minimize buttons of the active window. I use these on my top panel with the...

[all variants] Re: Compiz with ADD helper and Scale plugin

You can give it a whirl now:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6135101

It's a bit faster than the other script (mentioned in the above, BTW) in that it only activates the minimized...
  15. [all variants] A hack to show minimized windows in Compiz's Scale plugin

Attached is a Python script to deal with the fact that minimized windows aren't shown in Compiz's Scale plugin. The script unminimizes these windows, launches Scale, and (when Scale is finished)...

[all variants] Re: Compiz with ADD helper and Scale plugin

One option would to write a script that would use Compiz's dbus plugin. See http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Plugins/Dbus. The script could be triggered via a launcher or through a screen edge using...

    [ubuntu] wnck_window_unminimize(timestamp)

I'm stuck. I'm writing a python script that, among other things, invokes wnck to unminimize windows. My goal is to attach this to a gnome launcher. This code serves as an example:

  18. [all variants] Re: Problem with window title font in Compiz preview plugin

This appears to be due a bug in libcairo:

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/145604

"The bug reveals itself if sub-pixel rendering is enabled and rgba_order 'VRGB' is...
  19. [all variants] Re: Problem with window title font in Compiz preview plugin

I've isolated the problem to an extent. If I make the font white, it appears, but the spaces in the letters are black. This means I need a black background for the display to work correctly, but...
  20. [all variants] Problem with window title font in Compiz preview plugin

I'm using the "Window Preview" plugin for Compiz (up-to-date Hardy), but when I turn on the option for displaying window titles, the font that is displayed is blocky and unreadable. This happens...

[ubuntu] Window list for current viewport

Does anyone know a command I can use to get a list of windows that are specific to my current viewport? I know about wmctrl -l, but that gives a list of all windows handled by the window manager, not...
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Firefox: 70% crash probability when clicking on a youtube video.

It's almost certainly a Flash problem, so upgrading Firefox probably won't do anything to solve it. Hardy uses PulseAudio, which doesn't play well with Flash 9. You can try the beta version of Flash...

[ubuntu] Re: Hardy upgrade - Shut down screen problem?

I can confirm that this fix works for me as well. I've just tried it and had two successful reboots and two successful shutdowns in row for the first time since upgrading to Hardy. I had a bit of...

Re: firefox flash and no other sound

The changeover to Pulseaudio in Hardy has resulted in a bug with Flash. In particular, using the libflashsupport package can result in a lot of crashes, so it has been made into an optional package...

    Re: WINE with Office 03

Have you taken a look at wine-doors? They're claiming (limited) success with Office 2003. http://www.wine-doors.org/wordpress/

Unless you're using Crossover Linux ($40), I wouldn't expect Office...
