If you CPUs are running at 100%, I'd say there is a possibility you're running out of RAM or your CPU is getting too hot.
How much RAM does your system have?
You can install Sensors to check your...
This is what I'm thinking.
I see no reason why that workaround Gossar mentioned, shouldn't work though.
This kinda pisses me off though, as I liked Sandisk. They shouldn't force stuff on people...
Just enter your BIOS and look around if there is a way to edit the time.
Thanks again oldfred,
Will press some buttons and have a look. :D
Weird. Glad you got it sorted though. Even if it's not the way you would have liked.
DVD-Rs are so yesterday. USB stick. :p:lolflag:
Sounds like you need a new HDD.
Have you check the connection from your HDD to your motherboard? If you tinkered around in there recently, you may have moved the connection loose or something.
You should be choosing "Something Else", NOT guided.
It's the very last option with Ubuntu.
You probably did not set your location when, at least on Ubuntu, when you did the install.
Just clock on the time at the top right of your Ubuntu Taskbar and click "Time and Date Settings". you...
That is SDA2 = FAT32 that is showing up.
Looks look your Recovery partition.
SDA1 appears to be dell utility and SDA4 your Windows install.
Ah you're on Saucy. you should have posted in "Ubuntu +1" since there was likely a breakage with one of the last updates. You're on a development release.
What version(13.04?) of Ubuntu are you running?
Update: If 13.04, it's definitely there. Just checked.
Yeh most of the people that ran into this issue chose to go the EasyBCD route it seems. I thought about it...but don't think we should have to do that work around.
I earlier today, just ran ...
Have you tried installing it from the Software Center?
Thanks for the response oldfred.
The drive order in my first post is wrong. Its actually SDA(120gb - Win8.1) = HD0, SDB = HD1(120 - Servers) and then SDC = HD2(300gb).
So Windows 8.1 is on HD0....
If anyone else has this issue, I found an old Bug filed on Launchpad.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/475881
Ughh....no go.
SDA = Windows 8 drive.
SDB = 120gb drive with Server installs.**
SDC = 300gb drive.**[/QUOTE]
Fixed. Couldn't edit the first post.
So I took a look in the grub.cfg file and this is what it says,
### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ###
menuentry 'Windows 8 (loader) (on /dev/sda1)' --class windows --class os...
Thanks.
I don't like doing new installs on my production machines every release. Prefer to wait and stick to LTS releases. If I do upgrade between LTS releases, I usually do in-place upgrades. So...
I have this same issue with 13.04. Just hit any key and it will look for a BTRFS filesystem and then continue to boot.
Just curious, is any updates are made to BTRFS between now and 13.10, will my...
Don't understand why they don't just use Smart Package Manager then and work on that.
Thanks! :)
Thanks sandyd.
I already did the CentOS installation. I just made a /(10gb) and the rest of the space(26gb) a LVM partition. I haven't been able to boot it though as tge Grub menu doesn't seem to...
