Have you done any more with this? I have a kiosk application that I'm hoping to use the X50 for, and a test run gave me similar issues. I'm trying 12.04, and the cursor is just wild.
Interestingly...

I also have a question on AskUbuntu.com here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/43699/cd-rom-not-mounting
Take a look at this for a workaround:

It's a bit hacky, but this workaround has been helpful for me:

Hacky, but it works. Thanks!
Is anything happening with this? I like both Unity and Netbeans, and would hate to have to choose...
Will you post on here if/when you actually try Ubuntu on the Slate? I would love to look at these for my field guys; a tablet like this could be realistic for filing out forms, whereas laptops tend...
Any more progress on this? I would love to have this in my toolbox.
I had this same problem; turns out, it was caused by some orphan i-nodes. The short of it: run fsck on the partition before attempting to clone it.
We are using the L2105 for a kiosk app as well--particularly since this is in the same price range as many of the 15" counterparts, and boasts a lot wider operating temp range. One of our clients...
Sweet--I hadn't seen the --backup-dir option. Thanks for the tip.
Right... sorry about that. I was on my jaunty machine at the time.
You should be able to select any speed or a preset, and I imagine selecting 'conservative' would run cooler. Do you have a fan pad for it? If you are planning on doing a lot of intense processing,...
It would be easier to use the BIOS boot device controls; that way you can restore your Winblows bootloader on the internal, and only have grub on the MBR of the external. Just change the boot...
If using a GUI, this is all easily done with Archive Manager. Good reference for cli tho.
You can change the default settings for this with gconf-editor:
apps -> gnome-power-manager -> cpufreq
You can add a CPU control to your task bar (right click-> add to panel-> CPU Freq. Scaling Applet) but this requires that you set the processor mode/speed manually everytime. It's also a little...
You might want to look at rdiff instead; it has the backup feature you are trying for already built in.
Oddly, the accuracy is better with fingers than with the included stylus; it seems to track a ways to the right and a hair below the stylus pointer. The edges of the screen are also a challenge, but...
BTW- @phiworld: HP L2105tm comes with a stylus. I haven't played with it enough to issue an opinion on the accuracy, but at first run it seems pretty solid. Better than the little signature pads at...
Hey all-
I just bought the HP L2105tm to use in a kiosk application, and these instructions worked perfectly with Karmic. Many thanks to euxneks!
Unfortunately my luck has been different so far...
No worries. On the headphone issue, I've tried:
hp-dv5
hp-laptop
dellm4-2
and no joy. I'll post when I've found the right model, unless someone beats me to it. Good luck!
I had the same issue with 9.04 on my dv6-1230us. Upgrading to 9.10 beta fixed that, but I now have the issue where my speakers don't turn off when the headphones are plugged in (see this thread) and...
Much appreciated. The only scary thing is how many ******* apps rely on that old 16-bit code slag. =)
