Re: Android tablet for 150 USD

I daresay HTC or similar are well on their way to releasing an iPad competitor - done right it could be awesome, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Rahxephon is awesome - highly recommended. You might also try Martian Successor Nadesico.

Re: What type of Android Phone do you own?

HTC Desire - this thing is fast and smooth. I'm only just getting to grips with all it can do. What are some of the must-have android apps for me to try?!

    Re: HTC Desire

Yay, posting from my new HTC Desire! This is one helluva phone. No slowdown at all, everything runs so smoothly. Arch recognised it when I plugged it in and I was able to connect to the internet...

    Re: HTC Desire

Well, I just ordered myself an HTC Desire! It arrives tomorrow, so I'll report back about compatability (although I use Arch, so it might take a bit of tinkering!) and first impressions.

Poll: Re: Dock. Panel or Docky?

I used Docky for a good while and I liked it a lot, but in the end I came to feel it was limiting me, by making me forget all the apps I have that weren't sitting in the dock!

    Now I've gone down...

    Re: Guayadeque Music Player

Just a quick question - is iPod sync a planned feature of G-Que? I played around with G-Que a few weeks ago and liked it, but without iPod sync I coudln't give up Rhythmbox or Banshee (although I...

    Re: Along came Chromium browser...

I use Midori as my main browser - it's fast, light and simple (but with hidden depths!) and I find can get things done faster with it. It's a very elegant and customisable program and it suits my...

    Re: HTC Desire

Hmm, so far no replies (apart from this one, which doesn't really count...) - a pity as I'm thinking of getting an HTC Desire too. I can get a good deal on T-Mobile. It looks to be more-or-less an...

Re: Crunchbang 10 "Statler" development announced

I think this is a fantastic move for #!

I used #! 9.04 for a while and I loved it, but I wanted something more up to date and rolling release. I switched to Arch and have been very happy. But if...
  11. Re: Advice needed - small, feature rich camcorder?

I forgot to add that it needs to be compatible with Linux, e.g. no weird proprietary formats that only works with its own crappy software on Windows...

Also, I'd like it to use a flashcard for...
  12. Advice needed - small, feature rich camcorder?

    Hello all,

I have a baby on the way, due in just 6 weeks! I want to record its precious moments for posterity, and of course to embarrass future boyfriends/girlfriends (we don't know the sex of...

Poll: Re: Favorite Media Player/Organizer for Gnome?

Quod Libet is the most customisable one I've used, but that does mean it needs tweaking to get the best out of it. It's fast and stable too. Very recommended.

    Re: Banshee now with YouTube

I'm really loving Banshee these days - it's such a slick, stable, versatile app, and fast too. However, I use Arch and unfortunately they haven't yet updated the version of podsleuth in their repo...

    Re: anyone use Quod Libet?

I'm not on my laptop at the moment, so I can't check gapless support. I use Arch and the version in their repo is 2.2 - I haven't had any problems with it. Maybe there's a PPA on Launchpad you...

Re: Podcast for Quod Libet? (solved)

Well, since this thread has been necromanced ;) , I'll take the chance to say that I'm a big fan of Quod Libet - it's fast, simple, customisable and stable. For me, it's best alternative to...

You're absolutely right. I looked more closely at your original post, and I can see you were saying that all along. Sorry for the confusion.

I do feel that anyone interested in trying Arch...

Re: ubuntu minimal install vs arch

I hope you don't feel I'm taking your words out of context, but I don't have "a great deal of bash experience" and I managed to get Arch up and running by following the AMAZING beginners' guide. ...
  22. Poll: Re: Email Clients --- what to use? how do you use them.

    I've tried:

Evolution ... very good overall - fast, stable, nice calendar, very customisable, good Gnome integration, surprisingly light on resources. HOWEVER... it can't render all HTML messages...

Poll: Re: What Desktop Environment Are You Using?

Ditto - I'm running Arch with Openbox on my Thinkpad, and it's wonderful. But I do get restless, so I'll probably give something else a try soon... ;)
  24. Re: wondering why don't ubuntu make cairo-dock as a default application

I experimented with using a dock for a while. I tried AWN, Cairo and Docky. Of the three, I thought Docky was by far the best (I was using the version from the PPA).

But, in the end I realised...
