  1. Re: What's the policy on locking necromanced threads?

    Here's an example: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=489196&page=2

I can see no good reason for locking this thread. The old content is still valid and the new posts represent useful...

    [SOLVED] Re: Pipe to clipboard

For me, xclip is the solution.

Read the man page for the difference between "primary", "secondary" and "clipboard" selections.

[ubuntu] Re: How do you install Wunderlist

Update - I've tested the installation in freshly installed Ubuntu vms. Apart from first having to install curl, in 64bit Maverick and Natty I get exactly the situation I've described.

    In 32 bit...

    [SOLVED] Re: Help with espeak

I haven't used espeak, but it's installed on my system and runs fine.

I don't have any espeak-data folder ... in fact I don't have any *espeak* files in my home folder. Perhaps the file...

[ubuntu] Re: How do you install Wunderlist

ClientAlive: I've tried installing it in /opt (and running chown -R me:me) on it; and in my home folder. Same results each time.

Run with sudo, the first time it runs it puts up a licence...

[ubuntu] Re: How do you install Wunderlist

I'm finding that I can only run Wunderlist using sudo and this (of course) is unacceptable.

Re: Why does ReactOS claim copyright 1996-2010

The whole point of ReactOS is that it's a "clean room" development with no Microsoft code.

Re: "check if typing" bash script needed

It was me that was being unclear, not you - my last post was a joke. Obviously mouse activity should not disable the touchpad, but I haven't seen anything that detects keyboard activity and ignores...
  9. Re: What's the policy on locking necromanced threads?

Interesting thread titles pop up in "new posts" ... and turn out to be locked. It's not very annoying, just a bit.

A couple of vb forums I visit use a mod that marks old threads as old and...
  10. [SOLVED] Re: No tty Ctrl + F1 thru F6 Black Screen/Desktop Distorted Ctrl + F7

    Aha.

It's a long time since I've used wubi. I can't think of a reason why wubi would interfere with access to the virtual terminals ... but it might.

[ubuntu] Re: Cloud for virtualbox images?

Beyond my expertise, but I think VirtualBox has, or will have in an imminent version, the ability to move a running vm from one box to another. I suggest asking at forums.virtualbox.org.

    Since...

Re: "check if typing" bash script needed

I'm sure "disable the mouse when using the mouse" is a valid use case :D
  13. [ubuntu] Re: Use different profile for the same user when dual-booting.

I think not. As I see it, having a common home folder is good for upgrading / reinstalling, but with dual boot, you'll get the problems you've found.

What I suggest is creating separate /home...

[SOLVED] Re: How to hide my windows 7 from ubuntu ?

For sure, but what I'm saying is (not completely seriously), given the threats are this serious, to migrate as many apps as possible to Linux, retaining Windows only for things that don't have Linux...

  19. [SOLVED] Re: No tty Ctrl + F1 thru F6 Black Screen/Desktop Distorted Ctrl + F7

No definite recommendations, but I would be tempted to try eliminating things. Does it make any difference if you boot in an Ubuntu (Safe Mode) session?

To get top information posted here, you could select all the text and press Edit > Copy or Shift-Ctrl-C ... but that's a bit fiddly.

Better to run top in batch mode:

[SOLVED] Re: How to hide my windows 7 from ubuntu ?

  24. What's the policy on locking necromanced threads?

I'm seeing a lot of threads getting locked on account of necromancy ... ie, an old thread is bumped, gets maybe 1 or 2 replies, then a moderator locks it.

What's the policy here? Is every old...
