Looks more like a problem on the patch server than anything your end. I'd try again later, maybe hit the lotro forums to see if it a known problem.
I've had several requests to build a Precise version of PyLotRO, so it is now built.
Try this in a terminal window first, 12.04 seems to have a few wine related problems solved with that.
echo 0|sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
The library that pylotro uses for secure web requests has a bug, so pylotro can't complete the process. The bug is known but a proper fix is still being worked out. Sadly there isn't much that can be...
Actually I'm beginning to doubt that statement now, it should be fairly simple to swap to another XML processor though. Trouble with not touching that part for ages, your mind tends to forget what...
Ah, despite mentioning it in the README PyLotRO hasn't used 4suite for quite a while (I just double checked the source code).
All I can say is blame the developer
Looking at another post it is failing getting the web response, the code is valid python 2.7 so it could well be a bug in python or some change caught mid implemented that will get resolved.
Ah yes good old ULL, handled most of the NCSoft games that used their universal launcher, Tabula Rasa was a good game, I was pretty dire at it but liked it :-)
Oneiric PyLotRO 0.1.15 build
Some people have been asking for a build for oneiric even though the previous one will work. It's done and it's on the ppa.
Due to changes in personal circumstances...
Now if you'd followed the link in the stickies to the AppDB you'd find instructions of how to build the patched version, also there would be a better place to ask for help.
Funny that a sticky...
I thought that sp1 was pulled in automatically when using vcrun2005 with winetricks but I did forget about the need for vcrun2008.
I'm not 100% but the problem could be with vcrun2005, I think Turbine use a function from an update, re-installing using an up to date version of winetricks should fix it.
Most people seem to have...
RIP Steve, a part from an aging iPod I didn't really use much Apple stuff but you can't deny what he and Apple brought to the IT world.
If that is the case then that almost certainly is a graphics driver problem rather than a problem with wine itself.
What graphics card do you have?
LotRO does a check of graphical capabilities and seems to use the same error code if it's requirements aren't met. It could be that the linux drivers for your card...
Not to mention most of the C++ runtimes aren't installed by default either. The nay-sayers will say "but the application installer takes care of that", well that same application installer can...
Have a read of this page, phase 2 about halfway down tells you how to get them to show.
@jefelex they are just images but you can put your tinfoil hat away as they are nothing to do with spyware,...
If only there was a sticky that covered this sort of thing :)
If you have got a netbook rather than a laptop then I doubt DDO would work on it anyway.
You need to either stick a copy of msvcr71.dll in the game directory or use winetricks to install vcrun2003.
In the game directory there should be a temp directory and under that an applylast (not fast, that was a typo :)). Failing that there may be a Patch directory. The key file to find is...
PyLotRO 0.1.15
Fixes the newsfeed problem (famous last words)
Should make it easier to move from EN GB to English without needing to create a client_local_English.dat (you are still left with the...
OK pretty easy solution to the EN GB problem, it's a kludge and ugly but who cares it works :)
- Before starting PyLotRO open your game directory in a file browser (command line will do).
-...
Well I have found one snag.
If you previous had the EN GB version (should have client_local_EN_GB.dat in game folder) this needs replacing with the standard English one (client_local_English.dat)....
EU migration to NA
Finally managed to get this done (their servers are taking a hammering). These are the steps I followed:
Go to https://transfer.lotro.com/ and follow the instructions, it is...
