    Why would you cancel it? Cancelling something when it's 50% done usually makes things worse. Especially when it is your /boot directory.

    Use the windows partition manager, and format it to fat32. Use Unetbootin to make a live/download ubuntu usb.

    Why are you using the windows parition editor for linux filesystems?

    Use disk utility, or gparted. They can usualy move partitions to the right, or to the left
