I can't really think of a better way to word this, but I've tried many configurations and I can't get it exactly right.

    [ubuntu] Grub ignoring Windows

I had some problems with Windows and Ubuntu earlier today, but I've gotten that figured out, except that grub detects Windows 7 when running "update-grub", but it doesn't show up in the boot loader....

  5. [SOLVED] Re: Upgraded to PAE Kernel, worked once, then blank screen on boot

So the really only way would be to backup my package list and copies of other config files?

And how complicated is it? Is there a tutorial I could look at?
  6. [SOLVED] Re: Upgraded to PAE Kernel, worked once, then blank screen on boot

Is there any way to upgrade to 64-bit without losing my installed applications, themes, etc?

If needed, I will update to 11.10 (I was planning to do so anyway at some point).
  7. [SOLVED] Re: Upgraded to PAE Kernel, worked once, then blank screen on boot

I'm on the 32-bit OS, but it's a 64-bit CPU. I only went with the 32-bit installation because it said 32-bit was recommended on www.ubuntu.com
  8. [SOLVED] Upgraded to PAE Kernel, worked once, then blank screen on boot

I've been using the 2.6.38-13-generic kernel, but then I realized I was only getting 2.6GB of RAM (due to integrated graphics) of my available 8GB, so I installed 2.6.38-13-generic-pae kernel. It...

[ubuntu] Accidental CHMOD. No access to anything.

Well, I was originally trying to recursively make /media/samba/misc/ 0777, but I accidentally typed "sudo chmod 0777 /*", which made everything writeable. So to undo it, like an idiot, I typed "sudo...

I don't mean to bump an old thread, but I'm still having this problem.

I put the original CPU/motherboard back in place of the P5N-D because I have to send that one to Asus for an RMA, and while I...

    Re: Serious problem

Oh yeah, I originally installed LM-sensors on the old machine, so I guess it's trying to load the old drivers and that could be the problem.

    No. It's an Asus P5N-D.

Could it be a chipset driver problem? I moved the hard drive from a motherboard which had the AMD K8 chipset to the P5N-D which has the NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI chipset.
