returned no results, so despite the page referring to upgrading to Heron

sudo aptitude install linux-ubuntu-modules-`uname -r`...

I have just upgraded to Intrepid and on re-starting I get no sound and the loudspeaker icon has a red cross next to it.

When I try to open Volume Control I get the below error...

"No volume...

What do I Need to do in order that I can use my webcam to act as a security camera and upload a picture to a website if something moves in the picture??

i have an old Toshiba Portege laptop with W98 on it. no option to boot from cd or usb in bios.

I have tried using unetbootin as described.

Problem is that i do not even get the boot up screen...
