This problem has been solved by installing Ubuntu 13.04. 12.04 did not work with this motherboard due to the UEFI issues.

I see no folder there. I have since learned that it has moved to:

~/.local/share/.evolution

But, this is where the mail is stored. Where are the actual preferences stored?
