There are, apparently, no settings for mouse, either, at least not with 14.04 or 16.04 live CD.
That driver is hard to locate. I finally found it on the Epson site; there are two drivers listed that are not RPMs. The first, and newest, one is the driver and data file we know about. The...
Thanks for this; I've been trying to fix this problem ever since installing 14.04; never had the problem with any previous versions. I had narrowed it down to conky, but previous tries to fix didn't...
I recently lost Shotwell in 12.04 too, doing the regular update when prompted by the update manager. I do remember seeing that it was going to remove shotwell, but I didn't really think about it too...
My guess would be that the directory already exists (or a file with that name exists in the directory).
Try doing "ls /media" and see if it's there. Sometimes error messages actually have useful...
Thanks! Actually, I never tried that. I guess I was too lazy to look up the format. I just opened Nautilus (gnome's file manager, in case you forgot), and typed it into the address bar: ...
Yeah, I have the ftp server, too, and it works fine for simply transferring files. MTP is more convenient for some things, but mainly because you don't need to set up an ftp client.
Interesting about Calibre - it's the only thing that seems to have no problem with my Galaxy Tab 2 with Jelly Bean.
go-mtpfs worked well with my 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04, but not as well with 64-bit,...
Thanks for following up. I've been trying to get my Samsung Galaxy tab 2 (tablet) with Jelly Bean to mount using that, and it doesn't work at all. Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit. It seems like...
MTP is not the same as a USB drive. These devices will not work as a USB drive in either Linux or Windows, although there are drivers provided by Samsung for windows.
As for your "one command",...
I know this thread is a bit old, but I've been struggling with this with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Interestingly enough, Calibre, the ebook organizer, has no problem recognizing the tablet with no...

Those are two I've seen lately.
Yeah, Gnome Classic has the...
I've been trying all the alternatives. I've installed Gnome 3 shell, which I like the least, xfce, KDE, Mint 12 (with and without cinnamon), and Gnome Classic under 11.10.
I tried Unity for a...
Perhaps the problem is that none of us have a clue as to what your problem is, other than it's "unstable". Hey, everything is unstable in some way or another. Try to be a bit more descriptive...
Perhaps he means the menu (or submenu, perhaps) called "other". Then he tried to move this menu from the normal location in apps to a top level menu along with places. This is, unfortunately, not...
Well, to answer my own question... apparently so. :)
I removed the appmenu as suggested, and conky worked normally. Reinstalled it, it stopped working. Removed again, and it works. I think...
As a web developer, I've always had both Firefox and Chrome installed, and I've used Chrome as a default browser for a while, but I always end up switching back to Firefox. I personally find Firefox...
I think I'm seeing that too, using gnome classic mode - it's a blank panel on my 2nd monitor.
I'm wondering if you have any idea whether this would be the cause of conky suddenly not working. I...
I've been looking for an alternative to Gnome3/unity, and took a look at xubuntu a little while back. As a programmer, I like to use virtual desktops, and I also like it to be two dimensional, so I...
Does this work with 11.10? I tried to get it going, but I can't get past an error message on running it (menu or commandline) that says
"Missing dependency: mp4chaps is not properly installed.

FWIW, I've gotten that on some music players, but not others. For example, my multimedia keys don't work with VLC, but work fine with Banshee.
BTW, this happened again after playing around with Gnome 3 shell. This time, though, I managed to recover by replacing my xorg.conf file from a working backup.
Needless to say, I've abandoned...
Guess everyone has given up by now? I've been playing with menus some, and yes, alacarte is bad, but I find it to mainly be one thing that makes it unusable: every time you move (well, copy) an...
It's pretty hard to realize the absence of a feature. I didn't really realize it either, until I happened to get into a discussion on askubuntu.com (stackexchange forum) that made me curious. I...
