    Seems like changing from IDE to AHCI may do the trick; I need to do some backing up first though. I'll post results when I get them.

    As I guessed I was missing a library. In order to run the mising library run "sudo apt-get install libreadline5-dev" in terminal. Running just "sudo apt-get install build-essential g++" will not work.
