i noticed one change...
instead of logging on to gnome3 (selecting at gdm) i hit alt+f2 and typed gnome-shell --replace. this way conky remained where it was !!!
i also removed conky from start up and manually fired it up after gnome3 desktop came fully live... still no result !:(

right click on the panel and click on add to panel
you should get a list. add any of them listed. your email and music and weather and what not can be got back. they must ve been removed or deleted...
