  1. [ubuntu] Re: Sub-process error happens everytime I upgrade

I took your advice; backed up and deleted config.dat but when I ran the update again, it threw up an error about passwords.dat and templates.dat being locked.
So, I backed up and deleted them too....
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Sub-process error happens everytime I upgrade

Fair point. In all my frustrations, I had completely overlooked that.

I'm sure it will happen again and then, I'll post the full details.

This is an interesting point. I wonder if this is...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Sub-process error happens everytime I upgrade

I have not tried to delete the config.dat file before, I can give that a go next time this happens.

But as I have said, I usually take the aforementioned steps to kill the PID locking the process...

Thank you. I've managed to restore it to factory setting through Dell's own recovery system (on factory-created recovery partition). Very sensitive though, had to press Esc exactly twice after seeing...

[ubuntu] Re: Boot loop error msg

Thanks for the reply. It's Dell XPS 13 and it's quite new. No external GPU, just Intel UHD 620.
Ubuntu is the only OS on it so no recovery option but I can press ESC and that takes me to a blank...

    [ubuntu] Boot loop error msg

I honestly don't know what happened. Randomly, I see this msg when I switched on the laptop and it seems to be in a boot loop now.

[kubuntu] Re: Kubuntu & Windows 10 dual-boot TPM

I've already got a Kubuntu bootable USB and have previously installed and dual-booted it with W10; these aren't the problem. Neither is the UEFI.

Also, why would I take out the Windows SSD when...

    [kubuntu] Kubuntu & Windows 10 dual-boot TPM

I've got my Windows 10 Pro on an SSD and got another free SSD which I'm thinking of putting Kubuntu on. Also got a TPM on my motherboard which is holding the key for W10 wholedisk encryption.

    How...

  13. Re: Issue with Lastpass add-on, X and Firefox

Oh right, I see what you mean...so logging in through the website switches on (so to speak) the add-on in browser. Good call.

You know, come to think of it, Lastpass and Firefox just don't play...
  14. Re: Issue with Lastpass add-on, X and Firefox

No probs. I dual-boot Windows and Kubuntu on my main rig...and on Kubuntu (with X11), Lastpass works fine with Firefox...
So, perhaps it's an Ubuntu thing :/

On the flip side, man..Kubuntu looks...
  15. Issue with Lastpass add-on, X and Firefox

I hope I'm in the right place to post this. I'm not looking for a solution, just want to hear other people's thoughts and experience on the matter O:)

  16. [SOLVED] Re: Deleted UEFI Ubuntu boot entry by mistake..

Yeah, this was the first thing I tried but didn't work. All it did was added a Windows boot entry lol.
    Thanks for the reply.

  21. [ubuntu] Re: Cannot change keyboard shortcuts in Ubuntu 12.04

I've kind of come to terms with this issue and started to learn the default shortcuts
It's pretty whacky that you can't change the shortcuts like you used to be able to in 10.04. I don't...

[ubuntu] Re: AR9227 causes Ubuntu 12.04 to freeze

So far, there is no fix for this (except to just use the G wireless like suggested above). I had to get a long cable for my PC to use LAN and disable the wireless. Either that or you're better off...
  23. [ubuntu] Re: Cannot change keyboard shortcuts in Ubuntu 12.04

Alright then, ignore what I said above. In that case, I'll look into it a bit more to get Compiz installed on my machine, too.
  24. [ubuntu] Re: Cannot change keyboard shortcuts in Ubuntu 12.04

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't Compiz deprecated? I've heard a chatter about that. Ubuntu 10.04 has always been my favourite. So, when I first came onto 12.04, I was wondering where have all the...
