    [ubuntu] Re: keyboard problem

Well, first I would try the Update Manager and the Additional Drivers programs, but if you want to do it in the console, you would probably need to look that up, unless another member of the...
  2. Re: Problems install Ubuntu on HP thin client t5720

Well, LightDM is, as stated, a display manager. It is the default program for displaying the desktop for Ubuntu after 11.10, so I'd say it's a pretty important program for Ubuntu's functionality....

    Re: Installation stalls

I'll look around and see what I can find, since I've never seen that happen.
  4. Re: Is there a way to "Enable Windows Features" in Wine?

I fixed it. I had to use winetricks, silly me. It was under the "change default wineprefix" category.
  5. Re: Problems install Ubuntu on HP thin client t5720

Can we have a bit more information on your hardware? Is there an error you saw?

    Re: Installation stalls

Well, I know that the installation can take a very long time, but where exactly does it stall out? That could help determine the issue a little better.
  7. [ubuntu] Re: The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI 1 0,0,0 sda failed

That's what I meant. There's a pretty good chance it is dead, with what you've reported. As I said, it's pretty cheap to get memory these days. Good luck with your computer, I know how irritating...
  8. Is there a way to "Enable Windows Features" in Wine?

I know that normally you would need to go into the Control Panel in Windows, but seeing as this is Linux, I don't think that will work. I was trying to install the .NET framework for a game I wanted...

    [ubuntu] Re: Mouse lags

There's always the option of checking your drivers. It's always a good idea to update those, in my opinion.

[ubuntu] Re: System Improperly Shutting Down?

Basically, when you choose to shut down it forces every process to halt, so it's pretty much the same as closing "chrome.exe" in Windows Task Manager. It will say that it was improperly closed, but...

    [ubuntu] Re: keyborad problem

I looked up that keyboard, and there have been many complaints about it, a few being a bit similar to yours. I'm not sure, but drivers usually help with device issues, so try updating those first.
  12. Re: Inten Graphics 4500HD- X3 Game(Linux) on Ubuntu 13.04

I'm not sure if this is the problem, but I noticed that Error 1 said "built for i386" and something about a failure to load i965. I read that it is related to the architecture, but it may just be a...

    Re: Gaming Comp help

Personally, I would choose a mother board for future proofing (since you can later put better parts on it), but then you would also need to worry about compatibility, and possibly having to buy new...

    [ubuntu] Re: keyborad problem

I've had a similar issue, but I don't think it's a settings problem. Do you have any other lag, maybe the mouse or other input devices? Also, is the keyboard built-in? If not, what brand is it?

Re: Any fans of Audiosurf here?

Awesome, I've seen it a few times, and now I'll get to play it myself. I've really liked what I've seen, so I can't wait to try it. Thanks for letting us know!
  16. [ubuntu] Re: The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI 1 0,0,0 sda failed

Well, new memory is pretty cheap these days, so there's always that option, given that you are not averse to popping open your computer. Not much else I can think of, but it should work. If you don't...
  17. [SOLVED] Re: 100% cpu on one cpu when laptop lid shut and plugged in.

Could it have something to do with suspension? I've never really seen this, but maybe the computer uses its CPU to remember where you left off in some way. My guess is that it's your CPU either way,...
  18. [ubuntu] Re: The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI 1 0,0,0 sda failed

Ok, well I'm not too sure how to help then...Sorry. I'm sure someone will be along soon who does. All I know is what I've experienced, sadly. Good luck!
  19. [ubuntu] Re: The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI 1 0,0,0 sda failed

There is an image button in the "Post Reply" window, it's right next to the hyperlinks (middle row, right side).
  20. [ubuntu] Re: The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI 1 0,0,0 sda failed

If you can't recreate the partition table, your drive may be burnt. Do you get an error about "Input/Output Error" by any chance? If so, I think your drive is failing or dead. In that case, there's...

[ubuntu] Re: No wireless option on toolbar

It was the same for my Dell, worked fine until Ubuntu. I'm just saying it's a good first step before you go buy new parts.

    [xubuntu] Re: Won't install

Do you have any other Operating Systems on your desktop? How are your partitions formatted? I know that Ubuntu can not recognize NTFS partitions under some circumstances, and NTFS is a common format...
  24. [ubuntu] Re: The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI 1 0,0,0 sda failed

I would suggest running GParted and creating a new partition table. Make sure to back up your important files, of course. This is what worked for me with a similar issue, and it's the best I've got,...

[ubuntu] Re: No wireless option on toolbar

Have you tried looking under Additional Drivers? With some NICs, you need to install a proprietary driver. My Broadcom is an example of this. Everytime I turn on my PC, I need to install the drivers,...
