yeh im having the same issue after installing 9.10 on a G5 tower, the cd boots live and the install is perfect but on booting into the hard drive it wont mount the media drive.

sorry for the delay in replying, if i type eject in the terminal the drive ejects and stays open and eject -t closes the drive.

so we don't know if its software related? i dont have MAC OS to test it on

DONE! its all installed and working :) does anyone have a link to an ISO that has the desktop already included as it took an hour to download.

ok i tried "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop" and that seems to be downloading it now, so ill see what happens after its done

i also downloaded the alternative version and i still have no x server installed, did i miss something on the install?

cheers for that ive got the finnix cd to boot to the command line but i really need a graphical display as i dont know what to do with the command line really lol

great! ok i didnt have the right version :) ok but now i got the install to work but now i get to a black screen where it asks for my login and pass which is fine now it just sits at the ubuntu...

i have no access to another mac or macos i have a G5 with no software and a blank HDD. Im looking to sell it on and as im not aware of the legal side about MAC OS etc i just wanted to install lnux on...
