Haha, how do you get it working or how do you get it weird and buggy? I think the first time I tried to install the KDE wallpaper clock package off the website, and when I tried to install it, it...
Nevermind, it is working now, kind of buggy showing up twice in the menu one works one doesn't but bottom line is that I can get the wallpapers to show.
These worked perfectly, built in, in 11.04. Now when I go to desktop settings and set the background to wallpaper clock, I have a blank grey screen and it's impossible to select a wallpaper clock....
Things were working ok with 11.04. After upgrading to 11.10, I've had weird wifi issues. I decided to do a clean install. It worked fine for a while, but not I have no wifi at all... Any help getting...
I mean, there's no real symptoms. When it sleeps, opening the lid just doesn't do anything, which is to be expected, because I haven't set it to do anything, because there doesn't seem to be an...
I'm so embarrassed. Yes, that was it. I thought I checked, but I guess I got it mixed up :-(. Thanks very much!
Bump?
I tried this work around and it worked for me too. Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the "system connection" thing does? Does it lead to data being stored somewhere other than /home? I have a...
If it is stored in /home, then maybe by keeping your /home from the previous install it led to some kind of problem. I have seen similar problems in other threads where deleting a whole bunch of...
I don't know too much more than the title. It's a built in microphone and webcam type deal in my Samsung Series 9. The webcam still works fine, but I can't get any response from the microphone in any...
Ack, that makes me sad, I was hoping that a clean install would avoid these issues. Is network information stored in /home or /?
I'm having crazy issues in general with wireless, I'm wondering whether a clean install is the way to go. God Kubuntu is ******* me off right now. WebDrake, did you do a clean install or ugprade?
After reading your last post, I ran the second line of code you had. It didn't break anything, but it didn't fix anything either. I am having a whole plethora of strange issues with the wifi that I...
Ok, to continue upgrading: this problem is systemic and reproducible. Every day I come in with the laptop, the same thing happens: can't detect any wifi networks. I activate my phone's network,...
How do I double check which of these packages are needed? Why are these packages not removed when I do sudo apt-get autoremove or autoclean?
I have this problem except that the password is not entered for me. This is despite the fact that I have it set to store the passwords in an unencrypted file (as opposed to prompting every time).
A update in this continuing and bizarre chain of events: after getting fed up with debugging this, I decided to try to move some files from the laptop to my desktop and just work there. I connected...
Hey,
wifi worked just fine for me in 11.04. I upgraded to 11.10 and the situation now is really bizarre. My connection at home still works fine (although strangely all network information had been...
Could you clarify this a bit?
Currently it says (in the file you mentioned)
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash"
I should change it to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash...
Hey,
I'm running Kubuntu 11.04 on a Samsung Series 9. When it's not plugged in, I have it set to automatically sleep on lid close. This is working fine. I would like it to also resume when the lid...
Whoa, when you say boot in 7 seconds what do you mean? How is that so much faster than me? It took me just over 20 seconds to get to the point where I click on the KDE menu.
Anyhow, I did install...
Thought I would throw in my two cents as I had been following this thread prior to buying a series 9, and then just yesterday put Linux on it. Here's the list of things I did and how it turned out...
Hey, I've done some googling around and haven't found anything useful. What I would like is to change the icon associated with a certain class of files, like *.doc or *.jpg or whatever. What's...
it didn't fix everything. I eventually figured out what to do. First, I had to delete my ~/.kde folder. Second, you have to go to appearance and change the settings for all the engines. I didn't...
Bump. Please, this is really killing me, a lot of my applications are unusable.
