I was having a similar problem, uninstalling Windows Live Sign-In Assistant fixed it for me. I can now see my Windows shares and printer from my Linux system.

[all variants] Re: New desktop: build or buy?

The other motherboard that would do the job is an ASUS:
ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD

The Asus is a little cheaper, and it has a better return policy, so maybe I'll go with that one.

I'm glad you like the case. I really had no idea which is good or not. I'll take a look at the samsung drive. Quieter is nicer.

[all variants] Re: New desktop: build or buy?

My original worry was that it would take days and days of looking at this and that and the other thing. I was able to go through most of the stuff in a few hours. Much easier than I expected.

[all variants] Re: New desktop: build or buy?

  16. [ubuntu] Re: Driver for NVidia GeForce 4 MX AGP or replacement card?

    Thanks, but that didn't work.

    EnvyNG gave two options:

71.86.08, which did not work at all.

    :(

I'm back to looking for a card.
