Well, from personal experience using Slackware, Gentoo, and even dabbling with LFS I finally started the search for a good distribution with good package management and polished precompiled packages....
I followed the howto for the Diamond edition (DVD with Shadows & Hordes + Kingmaker) and it worked out perfectly... I haven't bothered with the Kingmaker part yet though.
I'm getting the wx.App error now as well after updating:

You don't need wine at all (except the kingmaker module), and you don't need the icculus.org installers.... all can be done natively in linux, howtos at the official forum:

Also, many games use DirectX. Games like the Doom, Quake, and Unreal series have used OpenGL and proved it to be plenty capable. Unfortunately DirectX is still the norm.
Its unfortunate that NWN2 most likely will not have a linux client, and may not even have a linux server.

actually, since apt-get works sequentially, the missing wine-doc package aborted the rest of the apt-get command at the beginning... I had missed that part.
ran this in a 32-Bit chroot (amd64 system), already had wine installed, here's what I've got so far:
