I think it can be some problem with USB usb, maybe even the issue is not caused by the brother drivers. Because sane-find-scanner won't find the scanner, but scanimage -L and and lsusb does.

I wrote to Brother support and got message that the new driver is in the pipe and should address the issue with 12.10...

Seems not quite same error - In my case xsane sees the scanner and attempts to scan, but nothing is happening.

Since upgrade to Oneiric I have problem with serious system slowdown when on battery power or when battery starts...

Found that my sh-zombies were created by failed tomboy synchronization with ubuntu one server. There is some problem with tomboy synchronization addin.

I have same issue after upgrade. After startup I have no sh-zombies but their number is growing gradually. I'm tring to figure out which app or service is the culprit.
