    @Boudreaux, thanks, your solution worked for me when increasing the size of my extended partition by moving the beginning of the partition. To resize the contained logical partition I switched back...

    [all variants] Re: laptop-mode in jaunty

    Seems like the easiest and safest option for now is to disable laptop mode by going to /etc/default/acpi-support and setting

    ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE=false

    then rebooting. This will go back to the...

    [all variants] Re: laptop-mode in jaunty

    That sounds consistent with what I'm seeing. It looks like laptop_mode doesn't get run with changes in power state, but the scripts that are run check to see if laptop mode is enabled, and if so...

    [all variants] Re: laptop harddrive Load_Cycle_Count issue

    What exactly do you mean by less efficient?

    I hadn't heard this -- I thought pm-utils was just a consolidated suspend and resume tool -- but be that as it may, the solution in the wiki still...

    [all variants] Re: laptop harddrive Load_Cycle_Count issue

    I just found this site also, tried it out and it worked flawlessly, so came back here to see if it'd been mentioned. The solution on the wiki does appear to be cleaner.
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Invalid repository index in sources.list

    Ahh, thanks for that link, it and the linked bug #202170 did suggest firefox and totem-mozilla were the culprits.
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Invalid repository index in sources.list

    I've tried a couple of different mirrors with the same result. Removing "web" did get rid of the error, I was just wondering what software I'm losing as a result of not having it there.
  12. [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Invalid repository index in sources.list

    Just a note here, I've had a problem with my software (apt) sources for about the last week. When attempting to update, I was receiving the error:
