i also had troubles with mesa taking over opengl until i removed my restricted-modules, then rebooted, then everything worked just fine. you might want to try it
i suppose u need to copy your .deb files to a cd, and later on, when you reinstall, to add the cd in the repos.
have you thought of using dfsbuild in your system? just code a gui for customizing it's .conf file and it might work
All you need in this case is a newer GObject (2.2.0 or up), install it with Synaptic.
