  1. Here I am with Lightworks and Steam running on my Ubuntu box

I never thought this would really happen.

I can now edit video at a professional level on my Ubuntu box. I kept my vbox of windows 7 just so I could run Sony Vegas. Once I adapt to the UI on...

    Re: Steam won't start up.

Don't lose heart - Steam on Linux is great once you get it running. I am loving it.

The issue is that you don't have you video card driver setup correctly for open GL extensions hence the:'OpenGL...

So far it works nicely, and is a boatload of fun to boot.

  7. [ubuntu] Re: Accidentally wiped out windows while installing Ubuntu.

I think the correct words are: "So sorry for your loss".

While I have not yet wiped out an OS, so many folks have done so before you that it is almost a badge of honor (in a lost-all-my-data way)....

    [ubuntu] Re: 12.04 64-bit and Intel HD4000

I have 12.04 running on an i7 based HD4000 box. I was impressed at it's performance for an intel GPU.

  9. Re: Canonical asks desktop users to "pay what you think Ubuntu is worth"

I was pleased that I could contribute to the expenses that Canonical has been carrying for these many years.

I contributed a reasonable amount today, and will likely do so for each new release...

Re: Folding@Home Team Ubuntu recruiting notice

I think that if you had been using a $600 GPU, you might have seen a better GPU output and missed the performance.

However, each of my i7 server farm units cost $600 total and pump output 18-24k...

Re: Folding@Home Team Ubuntu recruiting notice

Because of the very basic power of the built in GPU, the FAH folks say it us not powerful enough to give any real gains.

Someday when i9 CPUs with HD9000 GPUs come along, that might change....

I am not doing any GPU folding. These are all simple Ubuntu boxes with the basic Intel video built into the i7 CPUs.
