did
sudo gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
added at the end
Broadcom BCM4318 Driver fixed my not shutting down problem in ubuntu 12.04
This worked perfectly on my Gateway MX6441 with the same wifi card. I had to disconnect my usb wifi adapter for the last two code to work.
