Mine seems to only show apps that I have never used at all. In both 14.04 and 15.04
No amount of logging in out or resetting has changed that so far.
Is there a way to reset the list?
Well I've installed 15.04 and it's exactly the same.
It doesn't remember which apps have been used recently
My mistake I'm on 14.04
So that is still very much in the life cycle.
I have got 15.04 though, so might be worth a fresh install, as my current version was an upgrade.
Has no-one here experienced this?
Often the computer can be on for hours before the proper colour profile activates istelf. It's annoying and means Ubuntu isn't fit for any graphic work where...
I remember on older versions of Ubuntu that the unity dash uses to show my most used applications.
Now on 14.10 all it shows is a random lists of 6 applications some I've never used.
Is there...

Oddly there was no netbios name in it at all (I added it along with other line you mentioned), nor...
Oh no. What's wrong with this one?
I got from the guide on the Ubuntu forums:

I can get the original from /usr/share/samba/smb.conf and use...
I hadn't played with the smb.conf perhaps it was the gadmin-samba app I tried a while back.

yes sorry I I was a bit too keen and didn't notice it asked for my password. I edited the post above with all the output.
There's no error as such, just that their was a problem connecting to the server smb://192.168.1.69
I can ping the sever no problem, but unless I run "sudo service smbd restart" then neither the...
unfortunately there is no change after added that. On a fresh reboot i can't access the server by IP or name.
I don't see how this doesn't affect everyone running 14.04 and 14.10 as I haven't done...
Hmm
hostname
Home
cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
Yes. Unless I run 'sudo service smbd restart' after turning the computer on, my other devices cannot connect to the server.
When I run 'sudo service smbd restart' I get:
smbd stop/waiting
smbd start/running, process 31866
After the restart:
I have my 14.10 machine as a samba server, but oddly samba only works after I run "sudo service smbd restart"
I do remember seeing a thread on this but I can't find it now.
The problem seems...
Hi,

I'm using ubuntu 14.04 on my desktop machine and find that 50-60% of the time I'm having internet connection problems. i.e pages do not load or take an eternity to load.

No, if all is working you should be able to connect to the same machine. The same with NX and FreeNX. It's probably the best way to test it.
In any event I've tried from an external machine and...
I normally use FreeNx and no machine client on my machine, but on my current install of 14.04 I was recommended x2go.
Installation was easy and there is no configuration needed of the server....
I've got screen flicker issues with the nvidia-340 drivers to want to remove them and install the nvidia-331 package.
However the system has other ideas. Using the code below I get an error:

It's not a case of selecting either or in the bios, enabling EFI boot in the bios doesn't prevent regular boot. At least it never has in the four years I've owned this board.
If I turn Enable EFI...
Nope not confusing anything I'm afraid.
My motherboard will boot both UEFI and bios mode. Stricktly speaking the motherboard only has a bios it doesn't have UEFI.
