ld is the linker. so its a program not a directory.

why dont you try this:
1.right click on the file -> properties.
2.go to permissions tab and then click on Allow executing file as program
3.then try sudo sh NVida-...
yes I am, I also have x86-dev installed ( check that it has -m32 switch ) any problem with that you think?
BTW, this worked on my friend's Intrepid system not working here.
