I can say that Option B has been, to me, a disaster. Either it breaks X or it doesn't work.
What's bad is that overall, I like how HAL works. Everything just works fine "out of the box". It's...
I've tried the GnoMenu without compositing using the Live CD (I was at school) and it works. The animated icons in the Vista styles don't show, but the menu works.
So, I basically run the command and drag the menu into the panel? If so, I'll try that as soon as I can.
I guess you're right. I've submitted the problem at Gtk-apps to see if the person who made this app knows what could be wrong.
I'll check the laptop account's permissions, to see if I may have...
I think it's possible for it to work without compoziting. If you look at your hidden folders, you'll see one called ".GnoMenuSettings.xml". Open that one with a text editor, and it look for the...
Well, I have the same problem, except that GnoMenu isn't adding itself to Add to Panel menu.
I'm not sure if it's because I'm using a french localisation, but there have been posts on Gnome-Look...
Never mind, I was able to fix it by re-installing the beta drivers without changing the X server settings.
Compiz (as well as any OpenGL applications) was working well until today's update. For some reason, when I logged out and went back in, I would get the "XGL not present" error. Using the...
Hey brett. Your card should work "out of the box", as the installer should detect it and fetch the latest drivers for it.
I do recommend getting Envy (or EnvyNG, which is found in the Universe...
Do like me (and most of the high-end NVIDIA-Linux users) and wait until NVIDIA releases the full driver. At least it'll be functional and stable.
Acutally, I upgraded from Gutsy.
Anywho, I can run it using the terminal command "sudo displayconfig-gtk", and everything appears to be normal, but the nvidia drivers aren't detected for some...
Envy won't help, as the full drivers for the 9600 GT haven't been released on Linux. You could try compiling them yourself or wait until the drivers see a complete release. In the meantime, try...
I know it is, it's just that it's not installed. I did a synaptic search, and looked just about everywhere I could think of and it's simply not there.
Screens & Graphics? I haven't seen that option since I upgraded to Hardy!
That's pretty much what I did, but it's just not finding it. When I start up GDM after I install the driver, the kernel panics and it says that it can't find a proper X server configuration. It's,...
It says that my build-essential package is the newest, and it still can't find a precompiled kernel. So, no 9600 GT on Hardy for me yet.
Hi, I tried using your guide, but I can't even get "build-essentials". Running Hardy Heron.
Why do you need to wipe it? You do realize you can automatically upgrade your installation without having to delete everything, right?
Well, thanks for the help anyway. I'll still look around to see if there's a fix for this, or if we'll have to wait for the author's return from wherever.
I already have the build-essential package installed, and I installed the py-xml script, and still no go.
I also tried using force-architecture on the .deb package found on get-deb, in case I'd...
Thanks, but I'm still relatively new with Ubuntu (been using it for a few months now), so I'm still not 100% sure of how I would do this without screwing something else up. Care to help?
EDIT:...
The project's website is down, and I still haven't heard from the guy who made the program. I guess it's a dead end.
That makes 3 of us! Four if my mother likes it. :)
I've noticed there's been 70 views, but no answer. I take it there's no way around it?
