Bump. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have a Ubisurfer netbook with a strange version of Linux installed, uname -a reports:
"Linux pocketsurfer 2.6.21.5-cfs-v19 #281 Thu Jul 9 09:32:26 EDT 2009 armv5tejl unknown"
I've been trying...
Unfortunately nomodeset did nothing for me. Even text mode conks out after a few minutes. I guess it's an incompatibility between my GFX card and the default display drivers.
Just tried upgrading via the upgrade tool, and messed it all up. On Windows atm, is there already a bug report for this issue or shall I make one? And if I do, will it have any effect whatsoever on...
Tried that, no luck. If there are any other options, I'd like to hear them, else I'll have to hold out until 12.04.
Thanks, but even on the text based installer it screws up, otherwise I would have done it. Any solutions for this? I doubt the iso will be updated at all between now and 12.04.
I've been trying to upgrade my laptop to 11.10, but no matter how I go about it, about 2 or 3 minutes in the graphics screw up and I end up either looking at an interesting variety of messed up...
Yeah, the iPad and similar devices are not that great when it comes to making content, but good for consumption. I doubt the desktop/laptop will disappear any time soon.
Just installed 11.04 fresh today, and had absolutely no issues until I rebooted. Now, the moment I log in, sound is dead, and going to sound preferences from the sound menu just gives a message...
Bump. Any ideas?
Ok, thank you. :)
So it can't be done with the proprietary drivers, only with the open source ones?
Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 (or mint 10, same thing really) on a HP Pavilion dv7 4020-sa. It has two ATI chips on it, the 4200 and a 5470. I can switch between them fine on Windows, but I have no...
Hey guys, got a few problems with Linux Mint 10 (Ubuntu 10.10) on a HP Pavilion dv7 4020-sa.
The main problem is that the battery status is unavailable at any time, with the indicator merely...
You can't have spam and eggs without the spam! It wouldn't be spam and eggs then!
I'd like to chip in here, and mention that there are people who are utterly terrified of choice. I was in Subway the other day and this lady was in front of me. She was scared by the choice of...
Definitive proof that commies are behind everything. :P
Edit: Late to the party.
Open gconf-editor, go to Apps>nautilus>preferences, and uncheck 'always_use_location_entry'. That will re-enable the breadcrumbs.
The trick with these things is the same as making mods for games. Do a good chunk of the work yourself, then try and get a team together. Getting a team to join you when you have nothing isn't going...
For the breadcrumbs issue, after installing, open nautilus and go to Edit>Preferences>Tweaks and check 'Show like breadcrumbs'. that sorts it.
Take an example, a lot of working class people who may or may not be involved in dodgy dealings will wear a suit to court to impress the jury, whereas in normal life they may well just be spongers. A...
Oh look, it's this thread again. Anyone got any silver bullets?
I've used Mint ever since 8.04 turned out to be a heap of 6-month old manure. I like just having it ready to go from the off, and...
Well... Duh.
