    thanks, I couldn't figure out how to do that, even though I've been using ubuntu since dapper drake, so I just did another clean install. It only took me 10-odd minutes. Lucid Lynx is astounding.

    The first one there is the Canon scanner but xsane will always choose the webcam over the scanner. Is there a way the unsupported hardware issue?

    This my first time adding a peripheral to my ubuntu jaunty box. I want to add a CanoScan Lide 700F to Xsane and am coming up real short.

    the problem is that any of the programs I use just don't work. They all stop at 4% and I'm left with a coaster! The cd's are good, it's just the cd won't be written to.
